What snack would you eat right now?
“All I wanted was a creamy, seasoned, delicious coronation chicken sandwich with a warm cup of freshly brewed Darjeeling tea on a platter fit for a Queen! And my only condition was that I didn’t have to make it myself. Is that too much to ask!?” Lazy me (LM) said with exasperation. “I suppose it becomes a tad bit difficult to indulge in royal aspirations when you are settled among a community that thinks like a peasant.”
“Or have the bank balance of one,” retorted Sensible Me (SM). “And I think you meant royal fantasies.”
Ignoring SM’s sneering remarks, LM continued in her usual dramatic fashion, “Instead, I have to settle for this sad, dry and bland chicken roll which has more bun than chicken. I do have half a mind to go tell the fast food shop I got this hot mess of a meal from that it would be far better for them to use sliced bread. They’d have saved over two pounds a roll and I’d have been able to at least taste some of that non-existent chicken.”
SM said, “And you would have been able to save 7 pounds if you had simply made it yourself! Both, in your purse and on the scale in your bathroom. And I would love to see you try and give this Michelin star worthy review of yours to them in person!”
“And what, pray tell, would that achieve?” asked LM.
SM replied, “Well, for starters, the probability of us getting a refund would increase from zero to about fifty percent. The probability of us not ever being served again will also increase by that same amount. In my opinion, it’s a win-win situation both ways.”
“Of course,” SM continued with an afterthought, “there is a possibility of neither of those things happening and it would be highly likely that the next time we order something from them, the extra moistness in their chicken might not be from the mayonnaise.”
LM gave it a quick thought and decided, “As appealing as your argument sounds, I really don’t think I could be bothered going out again just to get a refund.”
“Well then stop complaining and eat. End of discussion!” SM snapped back.
Good-bye,
The still hungry Girl in Pajamas 👩🏻🦱
