“The quickest way to the Pearly Gates are through the Golden Arches.”
I heard Barbara O’Neill say this in a video lecture titled “DNA and The True Cause of Disease”.
While I initially laughed (you have to admit, it was hilarious), I did acknowledge that current medical advise would consider that statement to be true.
Now granted sometimes Barbara does seem to get carried away, for example, attributing polio to lead based paint, but overall, what she says does make sense.
An earlier quote on the same lines is found in Mark Sisson’s book, The Primal Blueprint: When you see the golden arches, you are probably on your way to the pearly gates. —William Castelli, M.D.
Dr. William Castelli is an advocate for cardiovascular health and supports a diet low in saturated fat to reduce heart disease risk.
Mark Sisson on the other hand suggests that by adopting certain principles inspired by our hunter-gatherer ancestors, we can reprogram our genes for optimal well-being. He promotes a diet that includes quality proteins, healthy fats, and a variety of vegetables and fruits. This approach aims to regulate blood sugar levels, reduce inflammation, and optimize metabolic function.
Overall, the point for me was, good nutrition equals good health.
So I thought, it’s the 31st of December, a day when I make my usual obligatory resolutions for a “better” year and follow through the next 6 days until I get my first hangover of the year.
Here goes nothing:
- Return to the 5am club for exercise and meditation.
- Plan my meals with low carbs and more vegetables.
- Drink more water.
- Read more, write more.
- Avoid idiots and follow intelligent people.
- Cultivate all the hobbies I pick up and drop off from time to time: photography, baking, drawing, writing.
- And make a million dollars by the end of the year!
There. That shouldn’t be too hard.
Now all I need is an action plan…
Till next time.
